Limited to 100 Pens
We've drawn inspiration from a variety of different areas. Whether it's classic American automobiles, space flight, or Art Deco architecture and art, we frequently look to a variety of different areas to inspire creativity. Our latest inspiration comes from our shared love of people-propelled transportation, the bicycle; specifically 1970s and 1980s BMX bikes. With their crazy color combinations reminiscent of cartoons and comic books, they made us drool with envy when we saw them in a catalog or at the track. Frames with colors like Spicy Chestnut, Cardinal Red, and Frosty Silver paired with gold, blue, or orange trim, MAG wheels, and big tires; these bikes were our gateway to a world outside our neighborhoods and our first forays into chasing speed and dardevil adventure.
For our first release in the BMX Inspired Bolt V2 series, we're paying homage to a classic color combination from Schwinn. In the early 80's Schwinn released the "entry level" Thrasher BMX bikes. They were available in several color combinations throughout the years, but the mainstay combination was Sable and Gold, a truly stunning look; we've affectionately nicknamed this version the "Thrasher". It features a yellow-gold pen body that nearly matches the gold used on those bikes then we've anodized the knob black and thrown on a black clip and screws that pull everything together. The outcome is a an eye-catching pen that is guaranteed to turn heads. We have 100 of these pens, and you can set it up with either the ever-popular Pilot G2 Rollerball or the super smooth EasyFlow 9000 Ballpoint when you make your purchase; either version will kick-ass just like your favorite BMX bike did back in the day.
The Bolt V2 is made from 6061-T aluminum on our CNC lathes and Swiss machining centers, in Mesa, Arizona. Pilot G2 refills are manufactured by Pilot Pens in Japan. Schmidt Easyflow 9000 refills are manufactured by Schmidt in Germany.
