The Lost Batch Vertex Special Release
- Description
Description
No matter how hard you try, sometimes things don’t turn out the way you wanted them to. Back in 2021, we sourced a large lot of material from Turner’s Workshop so we could continue to offer the best looking Vertex releases with as much variety as possible. Unfortunately, several of the lots didn’t machine well at all. We ran into issues with chipping, cloudiness, finishing flaws, and three of the lots had to be set aside. In the years since we’ve made changes to our procedures, including a complete revamp of our finishing process. In making these changes, we’ve been able to start to salvage some of the material we assumed would end up in the scrap heap. The Lost Batch Vertex is the first of these releases.
The Lost Batch Vertex is machined from a stunning European acrylic that has a light grey base with indigo swirls and a very light chatoyance. The two colors work so well together, when the light shines off the light grey it almost looks off-white and the indigo is deep and rich while also providing a nice luster to the overall look of the pen. We’ve used a new sanding and polishing process to bring out the full beauty of this material, you’ll be amazed at just how dazzling this pen is. When you check out, you’ll have access to our full selection of grips in Makrolon or anodized aluminum, but we suggest the following grips to maximize the look of the pen: Tranparent Blue, Transparent Coke Bottle, Transparent Purple, Transparent Smoke, and Black Anodized Aluminum. You’ll also have the option to select from a variety of steel nibs, with titanium upgrades available. DOES NOT INCLUDE MACHINED ALUMINUM BOX, SHIPS IN OUR STANDARD RECYCLABLE PACKAGING.
The Vertex is our second release in our Signature Series which is built around using plastics and other resins as the main parts of the pen. From the beginning, we wanted to create something that looked, felt, and functioned differently than other pens on the market. The Vertex’s basic design is that of a classic eyedropper pocket fountain pen. It functions with only four parts: a cap, barrel, grip, and nib. Simply add ink to the reservoir, and you can happily write pages of notes before you need to refill. Eyedropper pens can be tricky and messy, and we wanted to eliminate some of those concerns. During the engineering phase, we implemented designs of custom-fit o-rings to eliminate the need for silicone grease to seal the grip and nib areas. We wanted a smooth transition from grip to barrel, so we moved traditional breakpoint from the section back, and using a third o-ring in the cap adapted slip cap functionality for the pen. The longer grip section allows for the use of an “ink window” with transparent materials which adds a little flair to the pen. The Vertex looks and feels streamlined and aerodynamic with soft tapers, a cigar-shaped body, and a concave cap top; the Vertex is at once futuristic and reminiscent of the classic lines of Parker and Sheaffer pens. The Vertex is the latest step in our Design.History.Technology influenced Signature Series.
Comes standard with a Bock polished steel nib, with upgrades in titanium. The #6 nibs units are manufactured by Peter Bock in Germany. Also included with each pen is a 2 ml soft pipette and 2 black Monteverde ink cartridges. Each pen is designed and machined, by us, in the USA.
