Utilizing a base coat of partially cured Ruby Red (H-306) over which they apply Armor Black (H-190), then the paint is semi-cured before Aaron uses acetone and Scotch Brite to manually remove the black giving that amazing distressed finish. This reveals the red undercoat in varying degrees on each pen. Some have more red with the black being mostly stripped away, while other pens retain more black and just hints of red show through.  We've elected to use matte black hardware and the black Delrin slider. Over the years, we've tried multiple Cerakote colors with varying results, the majority of pink Cerakote is very hard to apply uniformly and ends up looking \"streaky\". Aaron at Area 15 toiled for quite some time testing out the fully pink spectrum including a few custom blends he made and landed on a new concoction that we're calling Pink Glow. Pink Glow is nice and uniform with a flat finish and light texture, it's very much a \"bubblegum\" shade of pink. A coat of Satin Aluminum (H-151) is put down first and partially cured. a coat of Crimson (H-221) is applied over the Satin Aluminum and that is partially cured. The Crimson is then removed by hand with an acetone soaked Scotch Brite pad. The results are a wearing away of the Crimson and revealing the silver of the base paint beneath, however, all of the dings and dents hold the Crimson which darkens from the force wearing process. The result is a unique look on every pen, especially since these got Aaron's most intense wearing process that really highlights the distressed markings. The use of Satin Aluminum Cerakote rather than just base aluminum provides a uniform color that will wear over time. Tumbled aluminum clips and buttons have been selected for this release and a black Delrin slider.
