It features a professionally applied coat of Aztec Teal (H-349) Cerakote described as \"a rich aqua color\" that leans right into the traditional turquoise range. Depending on how it's applied it can cure with a slight shine or completely flat, this latest batch splits the difference with just the tiniest shine to the finish. The texture of the cured Cerakote is smooth, but not slippery providing a good grip when writing. This is the first time we've featured this Cerakote color on the Dragonskin Modal, and we've decided to pair it with full aluminum hardware in terms of the clip, button, and slider. The Clip and button have been lightly tumbled while the machined aluminum has been left raw. The Crimson Patina is a brand new custom combination from Aaron over at Area15 that uses distressed Crimson over Satin Aluminum (yes, it's aluminum paint on an aluminum pen, but it makes sense) that creates a unique HEAVILY worn auto-paint look and feel.\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe Crimson Patina Distressed Modal is our Modal pen featuring heavily worn aluminum body with a custom Cerakote application. A coat of Satin Aluminum (H-151) is put down first and partially cured. a coat of Crimson (H-221) is applied over the Satin Aluminum and that is partially cured. The Crimson is then removed by hand with an acetone soaked Scotch Brite pad. The results are a wearing away of the Crimson and revealing the silver of the base paint beneath, however, all of the dings and dents hold the Crimson which darkens from the force wearing process. The result is a unique look on every pen, especially since these got Aaron's most intense wearing process that really highlights the distressed markings. The use of Satin Aluminum Cerakote rather than just base aluminum provides a uniform color that will wear over time. Tumbled aluminum clips and buttons have been selected for this release and a black Delrin slider. The Mother of Pearl finish was initially an experiment Aaron did with a light coat of FX series metallic over a white base coat, using primarily FX Mardi Gras which features purple-to-green color shift metallic. He changed the coating a bit during Batch #2 (second experimental coat), he added additional metallic into the final coat and sprayed it heavier, creating the appearance of a slight darkening of the base white which gave the appearance of slightly aged ivory. For Batch #3, he brightened the white back up, and added a final coat of gloss clear to the finish which makes everything POP. The color shift from purple through pink to green is still present and in certain light, all of the metallic is stripped away leaving a bright white pen.\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe Mother of Pearl Dragonskin Modal is our take on the standard bolt-style pen with a machined, textured button and slider system and deep pocket carry clip. The Mother of Pearl Cerakote on this release is closer to our first release of this finish, a true MoP without the aged look of Ivory. The base coat of white is nice and even, providing an amazing canvas for the metallic FX Cerakote. Aaron has outdone himself with his application process, moving through test batches to get the best mix of the different FX metallics to get a blend of color shift that comes through on this pen. Red, pink, green, orange, purple, almost the whole spectrum of color shift is present depending on the type of light and angle. These are really incredible, very hard to photograph, but stunning in hand. The best part, this type of multi-coat process leaves a nice texture on the pens so they aren't slippery when writing.
