Polyetherimide is an amber-to-transparent industrial thermoplastic that has a high temperature resistance and as such is used in certain applications requiring plastics that withstand heat and steam. It has a greater tensile strength than ABS and polycarbonate, making it a great option for lightweight applications that require temperature resistance and strength. We've elected to use a machined Ultem slider and button along with a specially sourced clear o-ring to make the body of this pen completely uniform in appearance. The semi-transparent nature of the material allows the user to see the internal actuation of the refill with spring compression and refill movement. Taking the multi-step process from the initial release of the Nebula Series INK, Aaron made adjustments to how he applied the colors and the colors he used for this third batch on the Bolt rollerball pen. The base coat of black is laid and partially cured over which the secondary FX series Cerakote is applied and cured, then the primary FX series is applied, hand blotted to create the nebula pattern, then cured, finally the stars are dotted on and a clear coat is applied and the pen is fully cured. The Pillar Nebula Series is our final Bolt Limited Release and the newest combination of colors featuring Typhoon Blue and Ranger Green. Pillars references the classic Pillars of Creation that depicts elephant trunks of interstellar gas and dust in the Eagle Nebula of the Serpens constellation.\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe Pillars Nebula Series Bolt is a blend of Typhoon(top) and Ranger (base) metallic Cerakotes. The Ranger is applied in a custom-blend mix with the black to enhance the base. The Typhoon is applied with full coverage but at 3\/4 volume, and then portions are blotted off to reveal the Ranger beneath. The 3\/4 volume allows for portions of the Typhoon and Ranger to blend creating areas that color shift from blue to teal to silver, while the blotted areas reveal the green, gold, and red of the Ranger. Ranger is a fan favorite at the shop with it's unique green-gold-red color shift, something you have to see to believe. Slight changes were made to the application of the white stars to soften them with a gentle brush technique before the clearcoat was applied. These changes mute the white \"stars\" a bit while allowing the color shifting metallics to shine.
