We pride ourselves on improving and adapting our products to ensure they are functioning as they should. The INK was our first foray into making a fountain pen way back in 2013. We first made major changes to the pen in 2015 to incorporate the use of a larger (#6) nib and a new grip section. This time we’re making minor changes to the design and engineering of the pen. First, we’ve added our new Sta-Fast cap system that utilizes an internal cap o-ring to keep the cap from coming unscrewed when the pen is pocket carried. Next, we’ve shortened the physical grip length by just over 2mm and shifted the nib upwards by another 2mm. This allows much more of the nib to be visible, whereas the previous version of the INK had a nib that was recessed ~5mm into the grip section. Lastly, we’ve reduced the number of threads on the body. We’ve flattened the top of the threads to make them more comfortable to grip for those that prefer a high grip. Then we machined a flat in front of those threads. This flat serves as the “stop” for the o-ring to seat against when the pen is capped, and as a grip extension when the pen is uncapped. Thus the combined grip-able surface only ends up being ~1mm shorter than the previous version of the INK.
The INK V2 is a full-sized, machined fountain pen that comes in aluminum, brass, and copper. The INK V2 uses German-made Bock nib assemblies known for their quality and long life. Also included with each pen is a Schmidt K5 cartridge converter and 2 black Monteverde short international ink cartridges. The grip sections are available in several finish and material options so you can customize your pen even more. The thread-on cap uses triple-start threads to securely attach itself to the pen and to allow the removal of the cap with only 1.5 revolutions. The new Sta-Fast cap features and internal silicone o-ring near the threads that seats on a machined flat just past the grip section, and provides a secure, tight fit that keeps the cap from coming unscrewed when pocket carried. We also test, smooth, and tune every nib before shipping your pen to ensure the nib is writing as it should. The nibs are tested using a K5 converter and our Karas Pen Co fountain pen ink which is made by Papier Plume. The cap does not post on the rear of the pen. Designed and manufactured in the USA.
