Brand New Cerakote Colorway & Brand New EDK Profile
Rumors have started to swirl that the August heat will soon abate at the hands of a monsoon. We’ve yet to see this materialize, the temperatures are still well over 100°, and that seems fitting as we finish up the final August Blaze releases. We saved the Hive grip profiles for last, with the Hive Bolt and FIRST TIMER, Hive EDK hitting the shelves today in this amazing color.
For the first release of the Hive EDK, we wanted it to be something HOT, and we chose the Blaze (FX-101) because it’s pure fire. It features a uniform coat of the new Blaze Cerakote which is described as a deep, ruby-red pearl. That’s an understatement on the look of this finish. This is a color that mimics the heavy metallics found in auto paint. It’s looks wet and sparkly with a deep, dark rub red color. Our Cerakote applicator accomplished this by laying down a coat of Armor Black and then using a Cerakote clearcoat mixed with the metallic particulate that creates this unique color. You won’t see this type of color from any other application that will look this good while retaining some hardness and durability. For this release we’ve chosen black clips, screws, and a black chrome click mechanism. Comes outfitted with the Schmidt P8126 refill with black ink.

The EDK is made from 6061-T aluminum on our CNC lathes and Swiss machining centers, in Mesa, Arizona. Pilot refills are manufactured in Japan.
The EDK is our everyday carry, small footprint click pen. We’ve maintained the external features of the pen with its grip rings, knurling, and heavy-duty clip. The updates on the pen are all geared around improving the functionality of the pen itself. We’ve added an o-ring to the lower barrel to ensure the pen doesn’t come apart when pocket carried. Schmidt made us a new and improved four-piece click mechanism, with the upper components all made out of stainless steel which increases the lifespan of the mechanism drastically. While the pen is designed around the Schmidt P8126* liquid rollerball refill, you can swap in any number of Parker Style refills to fulfill your writing needs and experience.
