We’ve resurrected the “Banned” name for this release which references a ban placed on a shoe in 1984 by the NBA against one of it’s most popular players at the time. Technically, the ban was never actually enforced, though there was communication back and forth between the commissioner and the team and Nike turned the incident into a hugely successful marketing campaign the following year.
The “Banned” Fluted Modal is our standard modal with our second foray into alternative grip profiles featuring milled flutes down the length of the lower body; a fan favorite profile that we don’t feature too often. The raw aluminum pens have been put through a time-consuming tumbling process to maximize the matte red look. After tumbling, we’ve sent them out for a matte red anodize on the upper and lower bodies. The finished anodize looks incredible a nice true red without any gloss; the matte anodize also provides more texture to grip. For this release we’ve selected the standard black anodized clip and button with a black Delrin slider. The pen ships with a black Pilot G2 refill.
