In our latest round of analyzing our current offerings, we had initially thought to do another run of our standard GroovEDK lower barrels. But as we tested a few more options we decided this manufacturing run we’d try something different. We’ve opted to change the “dished” groove into a flat-bottomed wide groove. We weren’t feeling just the wider groove, so we increased the feed rate, which changes the speed at which the part machines and touched the bottom of the groove leaving nice micro-rings in each groove. Hence the term “speed-groove”. This treatment is similar to the Render K grips that have this same textured micro-rings and adds a nice grip to the anodized aluminum.

Bringing in a brand new colorway on our Speed-Groove EDK V2 pens, with bright green anodize paired with black hardware. Since we want a high shine to the Speed-Groove pens, we start with a polished upper and lower body that is then sent off for anodize. We’ve sourced a different bright dip green for this release, from a different vendor their green is brighter and lighter, allowing for a true gleaming surface. Paired with shiny black anodized aluminum clips* and black chrome stainless steel click mechanisms, this latest release is perfect for the Speed-Groove EDK fans that bought the Vibrant Violet and Brilliant Blue versions. The complete package is a truly stunning pen that will draw some looks and remarks. Ships with a Schmidt P8126 capless rollerball refill in black.

The EDK V2 is made from 6061-T aluminum on our CNC lathes and Swiss machining centers, in Mesa, Arizona. Schmidt refills are manufactured in Germany.

*6061 aluminum clips are not as stiff as our stainless steel clips. They have more spring to them and can snap or bend if caught and pulled hard on something. They are more than adequate and stronger than many clips used on metal pens made out of lighter material. The anodize will wear over time, but it is more robust than the black nitride we use on our standard black clips.
