New Finish – Black Friday Special Release

Our Black Friday Special Release for 2023 isn’t just a new pen, but it’s also a new finish: Hardcoat Black (Type III) anodize. This unique form of anodize is thicker and tends to be more uniform in coverage, but the main benefit of this type of anodize is the wear resistance and protection it provides. This is the most durable treatment for aluminum parts, and the anodic coating provided by Type III anodizing effectively makes for the lightest weight possible with maximum surface strength. The Hard Black looks great, but feels even better. Type III anodize gives the surface an almost soft texture that accentuates the grippiness of the aluminum. This finish will be reserved for future special releases like Black Friday or other limited edition pens.

It’s time to celebrate the Retrakt because this year, the Retrakt turns 10. Yes, you heard that right, the Retrakt our standard retractable rollerball pen is 10 years old. Where did the time go? It seems like just yesterday we were welcoming the Retrakt to the Karas Kustoms pen family and introducing all of you to the birth of the Retrakt vis our Kickstarter campaign. Now, the Retrakt is a feisty 10 year old, and to celebrate we’ve curated a couple special releases to commemorate this moment in time. The first is the Hard Black Retrakt featuring our latest type of anodize, Type III anodize on the body of the pen. This coating is extremely durable and uniform, making this version the best aluminum Retrakt when it comes to EDC purposes. We have paired this with our X milled clips that debuted last year on the K Series and Bolt pens when those two turned 10 years old. The finished product uses black Torx+ screws and a black chrome click mechanism. The pen ships with a black Pilot G2 refill.
