Veterans Day 2024 Limited Release

Every few years, we do a Veterans Day release, and this year we were prompted by the Mil Spec OD Green Cerakote we received on the INK fountain pens back in October.  That color brought to mind the old U.S. Woodland (M81) camouflage pattern, specifically the green used in that pattern. It’s not a perfect match, but Mil Spec OD Green does translate to a very fair middle ground of all of the greens used in modern U.S. military uniforms, vehicles, and accessories. The Cerakote itself coats uniformly and provides a very low reflection with little or no gloss to it. The cured finish is very “grippable” making it a perfect pen for EDC use.

The Mil Spec OD Green EDK Limited Release features professionally applied Mil Spec OD Green (H-240) Cerakote. Our standard ringed EDK lower profile was selected for this release as it is the only grip option currently available on the Pocket Modal. The Cerakote has been applied in a uniform fashion leaving a finish that looks great but feels even better in the hand. The surface is an opaque (no metallic) finish that is extremely uniform in color and feel and provides a better tactile feel when writing. This Cerakote is a nice even finish that has almost no reflectivity to it and provides a great tactile grip. This release is limited in quantity and will not be re-released at any time. We’ve selected matte black clip and the black chrome mechanism for this release. Ships with a Schmidt P8127 refill with black ink.

*Cerakote is a temperature-cured, spray-on ceramic coating that is used in a variety of industries including automotive, defense, outdoors, and sports. While Cerakote has been tested and rated at the highest levels of hardness, corrosion resistance, flexibility, and heat; it is not nearly as durable as anodize. Like all coatings, Cerakote can and will naturally wear when carried against objects of a similar or greater hardness than the Cerakote. Cerakote can chip or crack if dropped onto hard surfaces. Be advised this surface finish will wear over time, and is not as resistant to wear or damage as our standard anodize.

The EDK V2 is made from 6061-T aluminum on our CNC lathes and Swiss machining centers, in Mesa, Arizona. Schmidt refills are manufactured in Germany.
