Colorado & Washington D.C. Pen Show Vertexes Sold Out
This year is a bunch of “firsts” for the Vertex in terms of us experimenting with new materials, making resin in-house, and curating pens for specific purposes. With our return to the pen show circuit, we decided to create specific Vertex releases for each pen show. The Washington DC Fountain Pen Supershow was the first show we attended in 2022, following by the San Francisco International Pen Show, and wrapping up our pen show year was the Colorado Pen Show. Each of these shows featured a specially created Vertex with a custom lid for that show.
The Pen Show Vertexes are now available for purchase on the website, but in VERY limited quantities. These pens were created in very small batches with the idea that if we sold out at a show then it would be a VERY good show, but that we would potentially have a few left to put up on the website. What is available here are those few from the Washington DC, San Francisco, and Colorado pen shows. The first two pens are almost cousins in terms of how they look. The DC pen show pen has a wonderful yellow and gold base with gold mica added to the gold and swirls of bronze and black throughout the pen; we didn’t have a specific locale that we pulled from but wanted a unique look that we had yet to explore. The San Francisco Vertex uses the Golden Gate Bridge as a reference point with its blend of copper and orange as the base, a healthy dose of mica in those two colors, and then we’ve “settled” those colors down with some black. The Colorado Vertex is another thing altogether. This color combination was specially curated by Paul and Zoe to bring to mind the scenery in Colorado. The green from the trees mixing with brown and black from the mountains and plains all capped in the white of the snow. When you check out select from four different grip sections options: Brown Transparent, Coke Bottle transparent, Red Transparent, Smoke transparent, and Teal translucent. You’ll also have the option to select from a variety of steel nibs, with titanium upgrades available. Ships in our machined Vertex box with lasered DC Pen Show, SF Pen Show, or CO Pen Show lid.
The Vertex is the second release in our Signature Series which is built around using plastics and other resins as the main parts of the pen. From the beginning, we wanted to create something that looked, felt and functioned differently than other pens on the market. The Vertex’s basic design is that of a classic eyedropper pocket fountain pen. It functions with only four parts: a cap, barrel, grip, and nib. Simply add ink to the reservoir, and you can happily write pages of notes before you need to refill. Eyedropper pens can be tricky and messy, and we wanted to eliminate some of those concerns. During the engineering phase, we implemented designs of custom-fit o-rings to eliminate the need for silicone grease to seal the grip and nib areas. We wanted a smooth transition from grip to barrel, so we moved the traditional breakpoint from the section back, and using a third o-ring in the cap adapted slip cap functionality for the pen. The longer grip section allows for the use of an “ink window” with transparent materials which adds a little flair to the pen. The Vertex looks and feels streamlined and aerodynamic with soft tapers, a cigar-shaped body, and a concave cap top; the Vertex is at once futuristic and reminiscent of the classic lines of Parker and Sheaffer pens. The Vertex is the latest step in our Design.History.Technology influenced Signature Series.
Comes standard with a Bock polished steel nib, with upgrades in titanium and 14k gold when in stock. The #6 nibs units are manufactured by Peter Bock in Germany. Also included with each pen is a 2 ml soft pipette and 2 black Monteverde ink cartridges. Each pen is designed and machined, by us, in the USA.
