The third wave of  Sunflower (H-317) Cerakote pens have just made it back to the shop.  We’re covering the traditional Bolt, Retrakt R-Type, and a few Pocket Modal options. These look as amazing as the previous batches and likely won’t last very long based on the sales of the previous Sunflower pens.

The Sunflower Retrakt R-Type Limited Release is the first alternative Retrakt pen we released, featuring a ringed lower body and a smooth upper body. The R-Type was originally released in a variety of special race car livery color combinations and was officially discontinued as a production version in 2021. Our Cerakote applicator has put on a beautiful coat of Sunflower (H-317) that is described as a “cheerful golden yellow with glistening gold and silver metallics”. We have a hard time sourcing yellow and frequently get asked for yellow pens; this turned out to be a great option when we saw the samples. The color is a gorgeous full yellow that is somehow brilliant but not overly shiny. The coating provides shimmer but is still “soft” that’s the best way to describe it. Besides the color, this feels amazing to the touch with a tactile feel that isn’t aggressive. The color has some shimmer but doesn’t shine with Cerakote listing this as a true “flat” coating. We’re pairing these with black anodized hardware which contrasts nicely with the Sunflower. The pen ships with a black Pilot G2 refill. Cerakote is known for the highest-rated hardness, flexibility, and durability for ceramic coatings in the industry.
