Legend has it, that an alien aircraft crashed outside Roswell, New Mexico in 1947. Over the convening years, the legend has grown and expanded despite the official statements saying the debris at the site was from a downed spy balloon that the Air Force used during Operation Mogul. Books and television shows have been released containing a myriad of theories and descriptions purportedly from eyewitnesses, but the official stance on Roswell remains the same. Just a short time after Roswell, the Air Force opened Homey Airfield, aka Groom Lake aka Area 51, and rumors of alien paraphernalia being moved to Area 51 began. Since the rumors began, the official statement was always that aliens and UFOs were not present and that all conjecture otherwise was merely a conspiracy theory. Fast forward to 2021, when three videos taken from the cockpits of advanced naval jets were affirmed by the United States Navy to include “unidentified aerial phenomena”. The videos looked to show disc-shaped crafts flying at speeds far faster than possible. So the legend, may in fact be a reality.
The Little Green Pen Pocket Modal follows in the footsteps of the Little Green Pen, and EDK anodized in matte green released way back in 2017. This was our tongue-in-cheek release paying homage to the Roswell incident and all of the legends about extraterrestrial life that have grown since that fateful day. The pen was a big hit, and we quickly increased the number of pens released for that batch because the demand was extremely high. The Little Green Pen Pocket Modal Special Release is a satin green anodize finish paired with shiny black hardware, a slightly different look but with the same effect. We’ve used the same laser files on this pen, the classic “little green men” alien head on one side and a small UFO pulling an unsuspecting person into it’s holding bay. It’s a little bit irreverent and a little bit cheeky, but we think it’s a great way to release a fun alien-inspired pen. Select from a variety of refills when configuring your pen.

While considering how best to allow for the standard Parker style ballpoint refill to be used with the Modal functionality, we debated on whether to simply offer an adapter kit or to go further and have a separate pen. In the long run, we decided to do both because we realized the separate pen could be a smaller pocket pen that was still balanced well and super functional. We used the EDK lower barrels which allows for the use of the traditional Parker style ballpoint refills and the Schmidt P8126/7 refills which are popular liquid ink refill option. This pen is nearly 0.5 inches shorter than the standard Modal, but still fits comfortably in the hand. It’s even easier to carry in a pocket with the pocket carry clip. And it will feature a similar material and color scheme as our EDK pens use, primarily tumbled finishes and matte anodize.
