It takes a truly skilled craftsman to salvage parts meant for the scrap heap, but Aaron over at Area 15 has worked a miracle on a portion of the Reaktor Pens we'd thought were too damaged to save. To make a long story short, these pens come from a batch of material that had surface irregularities in the aluminum alloy that only showed up during the electro-chemical portion of the anodizing process OR during a sandblasting process. Anodize AND sandblasting are both necessary for Cerakote, which should have doomed these pens to the recycle bin, but Aaron has worked his magic and somehow the majority of the Reaktor Pens we sent came out perfect. 

The Ranger Green Galaxie XL is our snap-cap rollerball pen that took cues from the automotive and space race era of product and graphic design. Ranger (FX-106) is described as a brilliant gold pearl that color shifts to a warm green; an accurate descriptor of this unique Cerakote. Even in the images you can see the gold accentuated where the light strikes the pen while the green remains a grounding color not allowing the gold to become too gaudy or shiny. This color is a favorite around the shop, and for this particular batch, Aaron used a very quick coat of clear over the top which cured with almost no shine instead allowing the underlying Ranger to be the star of the show. This batch of Ranger is some of the best coverage we've gotten so far, these came out looking fantastic. We've decided to pair the pen with black hardware which accentuates the blue as well as the full color-shifting properties.
