Description

Cerakote has quickly become a popular and versatile finish on our pens. The ever-growing catalog of colors, and ability to customize the surface treatment makes it a great way to get unique looking designs and finishes on metal pens that some might call boring canvases for colors and finishes. We’re moving further and further into the “Distressed” finishes which began with bronze distressed with black and expanded to several colors for our Halloween releases. We plan to further expand this sub-series to include a variety of base colors distressed with black, and eventually change the distressing color as well.

The Distressed Blue Retrakt V2 is our standard aluminum Retrakt V2 with a base coat of Patriot Blue (H362) that has a distressed coat of black applied over the top, partially cured then wiped clean to provide that unique “grungy” look. These pens were prepped before the Cerakote application with force wear, to include some large surface dents and dings along with potential machining marks being left in the surface to better hold the Cerakote finish. The combination of the force-wear and distressed look creates pens where no two finishes look the same. This release has been paired with a matte black anodized clip, black chrome click mechanism, and black hardware. The pen ships with a black Pilot G2 refill. Cerakote is known for the highest-rated hardness, flexibility, and durability for ceramic coatings in the industry.

*Cerakote is a temperature-cured, spray-on ceramic coating that is used in a variety of industries including automotive, defense, outdoors, and sports. While Cerakote has been tested and rated at the highest levels of hardness, corrosion resistance, flexibility, and heat; it is not nearly as durable as anodize. Like all coatings, Cerakote can and will naturally wear when carried against objects of a similar or greater hardness than the Cerakote. Cerakote can chip or crack if dropped onto hard surfaces. Be advised this surface finish will wear over time, and is not as resistant to wear or damage as our standard anodize.

The Retrakt V2 is made from 6061-T aluminum on our CNC lathes and Swiss machining centers, in Mesa, Arizona. Pilot refills are manufactured in Japan.
